Do I need ...

Do I need anything special? I am not going to burn dvd's etc, but I might burn a few cd's and back up some data, other than that, just watch a few movies, etc. Will I need anything other than a simple cd/dvd drive? I was thinking maybe a cheap little $20-$30 drive.

Right now you can buy multi/combo drives that read and write CD-R/RW , DVD+/-R/RW-RAM DL.
What that basically means is everything except HD-DVD and Blu-Ray and theyre now selling at around 35$.
DVD-RAM is a special type of DVD that works like a USB key or floppy except on a disc and DL means Dual-Layer which burns on 2 layers of the disc giving you up to 8.5 GB instead of 4.7
